Four law alumni among new hires in Orange County DA office
Out of a hiring pool of hundreds of applicants, the Orange County District Attorney’s office could select only 11 candidates to fill its current openings. Four openings were filled by graduates of Chapman University’s School of Law.
Among the Chapman alumni sworn in at Friday ceremonies were James Hong (’11 L.L.M.), Hoon Chang (’11 L.L.M.) and Habib Hanna (’10 J.D.). All three began working earlier this month as entry-level deputy district trial attorneys. Also hired as one of four fellows was Kelly Manley (’11 J.D.). As a fellow, Manley is under contract with the DA’s office for one year.
“I will always be thankful to Professors Pat Ahle, Scott Steiner, Kevin Haskins, Beth Costello and Ron Steiner for helping me achieve my dream of becoming a prosecutor,” said Chang.
The application process is extensive and competitive, spanning four levels of interviews. This year, 531 applicants had applied by the June 3, 2011 deadline.
