Parking permit website updated; permits on sale now
When do parking permits go on sale? How much do they cost? Do carpoolers get a discount?
Find the answers to all those parking questions at Public Safety’s updated parking website. The online vehicle registration system is now open and accepting both permit requests and waivers. If by chance you made a permit or waiver request prior to July 19, you must resubmit your request.
New this year is the option of having the parking permit mailed to a home address, if you’re a student, or an office address for faculty and staff. Those wishing to have their permits mailed must register on-line by July 31, 2011.
Returning is the option of bidding in the auctions for parking in the Villa Park Orchards lot or in reserved spaces. The auctions are designed as falling-price auctions, or Dutch auctions. Participants benefit from the market dynamic of seeing prices fall rather than rise based on demand. For example, those VPO permits will start at $50 and not go up — and could go down! Bidding starts Aug. 22.
