Noelle Freeman crowned Miss California.

Chapman University student Noelle Freeman is crowned Miss California.

A 21-year-old Chapman University alumna has been named Miss California and will go on to represent the Golden State in the Miss America pageant.  Noelle Freeman of Carlsbad, competing as Miss Culver City, became the 86th Miss California on Saturday (June 25) in the annual pageant, held at the William Saroyan Theatre in downtown Fresno.   She graduated from Chapman in May with a degree in communications and a minor in dance.

Freeman bested 59 other contestants in the pageant — including six other Chapman students.  Four of the pageant’s top 12 were current Chapman students.

Freeman, who performed a “Black Swan” dance variation for her talent offering, received a $10,000 scholarship from the Miss California pageant. She also advances to the Miss America pageant, to be held in January in Las Vegas. There, she will compete against 49 other state representatives for the title of Miss America 2012.
