Professor Polcari

The university community is invited to attend a champagne retirement reception for Chapman University art professors Stephen Polcari, Ph.D., and Richard Turner at 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 9, in the Guggenheim Gallery.

Before joining Chapman as an art history professor, Dr. Polcari was director of the Smithsonian Institution’s Archives of American Art in New York. He is the author of Abstract Expressionism and the Modern Experience (Cambridge University Press, 1991).

Professor Turner

Professor Turner joined Chapman in 1970. Turner is an award-winning public artist, with installations throughout the United States, including the Honda Center in Anaheim and in Portland, where his design team’s art for light rail stations earned a Presidential Award in 2001.

Professor Turner also created Equinox Sunrise, a bronze sculpture that hangs in the Wallace All Faiths Chapel, and Liberty Plaza, a landscape setting for a section of the Berlin Wall at Chapman.
