Alumni couple star in local staging of ‘The Crucible’
Chapman University staff members Peter Westenhofer ’00, operations manager for the Conservatory of Music, and Heather Westenhofer ’97, assistant to the associate dean of the College of Performing Arts, are starring as husband and wife John and Elizabeth Proctor in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, currently playing at Mysterium Theater in Santa Ana.
The Westenhofers are both alumni of the Department of Theatre and have been regulars in the local theatre scene since graduation. But this is their first opportunity to play opposite each other in such demanding dramatic roles. The Crucible is a classic piece of American theater focusing on the Salem witch trials. Says Heather, “Many people are only familiar with The Crucible from high school English classes. Being part of the production live on stage is an incredible experience…Miller’s characters ring true in any era.”
The Crucible plays through April 9. Ticket information can be found at www.mysteriumshop.com.
