Relay For Life comes to Chapman.

By Brianna Grinbaum ’11

The Chapman University chapter of Colleges Against Cancer, an on-campus student organization supported by the American Cancer Society, is calling all students, faculty and staff to volunteer at and participate in the first Relay For Life held at Chapman University.

Event organizers hope to engage volunteers in recruiting and assembling teams, seeking community support, coordinating logistics, securing donated refreshments and prizes, planning entertainment and lending their support in any way. Since it is the first year that it is being held at Chapman University, everyone is encouraged to participate in this memorable event. The round-the-clock relay will be held from 2 p.m. to 2 p.m. March 11-12 in Attallah Piazza. Relay For Life was designed as a 24-hour event because “cancer never sleeps.” The goal is to have at least one team member walking at all times throughout the 24 hours.

“Relay For Life gives Chapman a unique opportunity to contribute to the American Cancer Society’s mission of saving lives, by helping people stay well, by helping them get well, by finding cures and by fighting back,” said Chloe Canta, co-chair of  Chapman University Relay For Life.
