Dr. Vernon Smith to give talk in Poland on recession

By the invitation of the Chairman of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, Stanislaw Kluza, Vernon Smith, Ph.D., professor of economic science at Chapman University and Nobel laureate, will be delivering a public lecture on Dec. 3 in Warsaw, titled “Housing, Recessions, and Sustaining Wealth Creation.”

The Polish Financial Supervision Authority is a public institution, supervising the banking sector, capital market, insurance, pension system and electronic money institutions in Poland.  Its stated aim is to ensure regular operation of the financial market, its stability, security and transparency, as well as to promote the interest of market participants.

Dr. Smith was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 2002 for his groundbreaking work in experimental economics. He has joint appointments with the Argyros School of Business & Economics and the School of Law, and he is part of a team that created and runs the Economic Science Institute at Chapman.
