President Doti charms young fans at book festival

October 5, 2010

President Jim Doti did a live reading of his new children’s book, A Christmas Adventure in Little Italy, with his illustrator, Lisa Mertins, at the annual Orange County Children’s Book Festival at Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa this past Sunday – an event that drew more than 30,000 people to a day full of readings, performances and booths displaying the latest in children’s literature and related merchandise.

Before and after their appearance on the festival’s main stage, the pair signed books in a booth sponsored by Chapman’s College of Educational Studies.  Manning the CES booth and cheering the president on were Dean Don Cardinal, Ph.D.; Education Director Michael Madrid, Ph.D.; and Margie Curwen, among others; also on hand and among the crowd we spotted Sandra Robbie, Pattie Sobczak, Mary Platt, Dodge College professor Veston Rowe and his family, Schmid College professor Hesham el-Askary and his family, Chapman trustee Donna Attallah and many other members of the Chapman community.
