Eastman, Chemerinsky team up for Supreme Court preview

September 29, 2010

John Eastman, right, and Erwin Chemerinsky enjoy lively debates together.

They are great friends and great rivals.

And if you’ve never witnessed the intellectual sparks that light up when John C. Eastman, professor and Donald P. Kennedy Chair in Law at Chapman University School of Law, and Erwin Chemerinsky, founding dean and professor of law at UC Irvine’s Law School, get together, then mark your calendar for Oct. 4.

That’s when the two legal scholars with opposite views on just about everything but their friendship will preview the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2010 term in a panel discussion that is part of an Orange County Bar Association program Monday, Oct. 4, at The Pacific Club, 4110 MacArthur Blvd., Newport Beach. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and dinner and program at 6 p.m.

The evening’s program also includes the awarding of the first David G. Sills Award for Appellate Excellence to the Honorable David Sills, who celebrates 20 years as presiding justice of the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District, Division Three, in Santa Ana. Registration information is available at the Orange County Bar Association website.
