Free film evenings, insider insights at Dodge College

September 2, 2010

Here’s a perk to definitely take advantage of at least once or twice this semester – the free Monday and Tuesday evening movie programs at Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.

Both the Insider Screenings and the Sci-Fi Cinema programs are free and open to the entire Chapman community at large. The Insider Screenings include a Q&A with the fall semester filmmaker-in-residence, director and actor Randal Kleiser, whose films include Grease, Big Top Pee-Wee, The Blue Lagoon, White Fang, Honey, I Blew Up the Kids and Flight of the Navigator. Insider Screenings are scheduled at 7 p.m. generally every other Tuesday, Sept. 7 through Dec. 7, with some schedule changes during mid-terms and holiday breaks. On Mondays at 7 p.m. Dodge College hosts Sci-Fi Cinema, led by faculty member Michael Phillips, with special guests.

Up next on the schedule is the Sept. 7 screening of White Fang, Jack London’s classic adventure story about the friendship developed between a Yukon gold hunter and the mixed dog-wolf he rescues from the hands of a man who mistreats him. A Q&A session with White Fang director Kleiser will follow. Because of the Labor Day holiday, the next Sci-Fi Cinema will be Sept. 13, featuring The Fantastic Planet.

Visit the Dodge College calendar website or follow its Facebook page to see the full schedule of screenings and other special events.
