A slow but measurable rise in hiring among Orange County’s manufacturing industries is expected to nudge up employment in the county, according to a survey report released Wednesday by the A. Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research and reported in the Orange County Register.

The school’s results are based largely on a survey of purchasing managers, 25.6 percent of whom expect their companies to add new hires this quarter, compared with 6.9 percent who expect less hiring. The 18.7 percent difference is the highest since the third quarter of 2004, according to the report, indicating that some growth is returning, said Raymond Sfeir, Ph.D., professor of economics and a research fellow at Chapman University.

The entire report can be read at the A. Gary Anderson Center website.
